We are 100% New Zealand
Capture New Zealand Photography Tours was established by New Zealanders who love this small, yet magnificent, corner of the world and wanted visitors to get the most out of their photography during their time here. We saw that people were being rushed along on large group tours or missing opportunities of light and location when travelling independently, meaning that the images they took were often well below what they could have been.
After a lot of research we designed a range of tours which would give our guests the opportunity to photograph a wide variety of landscapes. Each day was carefully mapped out so that the morning and evening shoot locations were chosen for optimal light conditions.
We strive to provide an experience which enables our guests to capture images comparable to, and even better than, photographs found in well-known New Zealand pictorial books and publications. By combining our knowledge of each region and photographic assistance in the field our clients are able to maximise their photography on each shoot. It is very satisfying to see the thrill our guests get when they capture a 'cracker' (translation: stunning photo).

We believe it is important to be linked-in with the national representative body for tour operators and are full members of the Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand. As members of TIANZ we are fully aware of our responsibility to add value to tourism in New Zealand by providing a service which ensures our guests are treated with respect, honesty and courtesy at all times.
We Take Care of the Details - You Take Photographs
Taking a tour with us means that we take care of all of the hassles associated with travelling in an unfamiliar country, so that you are free to concentrate on your photography. Each tour program has been created from countless hours and miles of travel, exploration of each area from a photographer's perspective and photographing in all seasons to gain knowledge of when to go where. All you need to worry about is making sure you take the lens cap off!
We Know that Great Photography Takes Time
You won't be herded along from one place to the next - we have allocated plenty of time at each major shoot location to allow you to relax, immerse yourself in the landscape around you and capture contemplated images. With a maximum of only eight people on each tour, we can visit and more fully explore places than would be feasible with a larger group. Most importantly, we understand that being in the right place at the right time is critical to capturing great images, which is why travelling with a locally-based photographer is invaluable.
Our Commitment to You
From your first contact with us to saying goodbye at the tour's end our goal is to treat you the way we would like to be treated. You will quickly discover that you are much more than just a number and name badge - travelling as part of a small group means you will enjoy outstanding personal service. We keep in close contact with you prior to your arrival in New Zealand and will send out, via email, a summary of your tour along with pre-arrival information so that you are fully prepared for your visit here.
On tour you will experience our famous Kiwi hospitality and enjoy great photography, relaxing accommodations, good company and, of course, plenty of laughs! We place great importance on your safety and well-being while you are travelling with us and your guide has completed an advanced driver training course, a four-wheel drive training course and holds a First Aid certificate.
We want you to feel at home with us so that you will take back to your home photographs, and memories, of a lifetime.
Your Guide is a New Zealand Landscape Photographer
Phillip Bartlett is a professional New Zealand photographer (visit his online gallery) and his regional knowledge, friendly, courteous manner and organizational skills will make all the difference to your success and enjoyment on tour. Also, to help you capture great images and improve your photography, he is always willing to share tips and techniques at each location, and his passion for photography is infectious. After travelling with Phillip for a few days we are sure you won't want the tour to end!
We Care for Our Environment
We love New Zealand and it's a real privilege to be able to enjoy photographing in such a pristine and uncrowded country. To minimise our impact at every location we visit we ensure that we do not damage the native vegetation, leave any rubbish or food scraps, or behave in a manner which may cause distress for the wildlife.
Where our tours take us into regions managed by the Department of Conservation we hold the required concession licences. As well as meeting DOC's environmental criteria we pay a per-person fee which is used to maintain the areas we are visiting. The fees are also used in programmes to protect the native flora and fauna against damage and loss of habitat caused by introduced predators.
