Late summer in the South Island proved to be a great place to be for seven days.

Bob and Margaret joined for me for a week of great photography, and the weather was very favourable throughout our trip. We started our journey on the West Coast, with Fox Glacier our first destination. Our main shoot was planned for Lake Matheson, but unfortunately the weather was overcast and the mountains were hiding. The next morning was a slight improvement but we could still not see the Southern Alps. The forecast was for rain but we took our chances and went down to the lake anyway. As we were walking to our photo spot the clouds started to roll away and not long after we arrived and got set up the clouds dissipated giving us beautiful clear views of Aoraki/Mt Cook and Mt Tasman. The lake was perfectly calm and so we got the classic Lake Matheson reflections photographs that all visitors wish to capture.
